Facebook

As estimated 350 million social media users suffer from Facebook addiction syndrome. Most of its addicted users aged between 16 and 25. About 60 percent of addicts are females. Out of this 60 percent, 68 percent confess that they check their News Feed more than 10 times a day. Facebook dominates the social landscape with a 63 percent market penetration.

Statistics shows that 18 percent of users can’t go a few hours without checking Facebook. And 61 percent of users have to check Facebook at least once a day.

Twitter

If you compared Twitter to the size of a country, Twitter would be the 12th largest in the world. And 16 percent of people rely on Twitter for their morning news. Some 26 percent of users check Twitter before they turn on the television.

Other social media platforms

LinkedIn signs two new members up every second. The average visitor spends 15 minutes a day on YouTube. About 5 million images are uploaded daily on Instagram. The Google +1 button is pressed 5 billion times a day.

Moreover, 28 percent of all media time spent by the users aged between 15 and 19 is on social networking sites. These users spent at least three hours per day on average on social networking sites or using platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

These are some of the startling statistics hinting social media addiction. Many users of different social media platforms can’t go on with their daily lives if they can’t check their Facebook or Twitter accounts.
