Now the new year is well under way, we’ll know if we’re going to stick to our resolutions to get fit and lose weight or not; chances are that if you’re not, you’ve given it up by now, and if you are, you’re looking for some techy assistance to help your success last forever! That’s what we’re going to be talking about today, technology and applications to help you get the most from your fitness journey with a little extra help!

The best health apps for your phone!

Fitbit and accompanying app.
FitBit products come with an accompanying app that allows you to see your statistics from the day, week, month and so on. Of course, you can only use the app with a FitBit, but if you’re serious about your fitness journey then a FitBit – even the most basic Flex – is a sound investment! Getting a good breakdown of how active you are, and the quality of your sleep, can go a long way to figuring out what areas you need to improve!

iPhone Health

We wouldn’t normally choose to talk about something so device specific, but the in-built health apps on the newer iPhone devices are brilliant, and since iPhones are so popular, we thought it would be worth talking about. The health apps are incredibly varied, allowing you to track your health, including your fitness journey, weight loss, your heart rate and plenty more. You can do the vast majority of this without any extra equipment, but also gives you the option for fantastic integration with your fitness equipment if you have some! If you have an Iphone, definitely give it a go.

MyFitnessPal

MyFitnessPal is a fantastic companion app to both of the things we’ve mentioned above; it gives you the option to make a note of everything, including the foods you’ve eaten and the exercise you’re doing. Additionally, there’s a brilliant community aspect, which gives you the chance to talk to others about their journeys, get extra inspiration and even share some of your own! You can share data between the apps, too, so you get a perfectly cohesive overall feel which you just won’t get by jotting things down in the Notes section of your phone!

YouTube

Not the thing you think of when thinking of health, but hear us out! YouTube is a fantastic resource, which can allow you to find advice on a huge number of things, including your health, exercise and nutrition, which you can then apply to your own journey. You can also just get extra inspiration from other peoples’ journeys and experiences, which is something you can always use!
