This includes the switch from physical media and entertainment towards streaming services such as Spotify and Netflix; and a swap from physical storage to cloud storage. With the presence of digital services becoming every more abundant, there are some cloud services that prove themselves to be invaluable, and those are the ones we’ll be talking about today. Here are some of the world’s best cloud services.
iCloud
Apple’s cloud services have been practically non-existent until iCloud and Apple Music became a widespread thing, and with the rise in popularity of cloud based storage, the use of iCloud is growing. Apple product users are encouraged to save their application, media and information to iCloud as a security feature of iPhones, iPods and iPads, and many users do so just in case of device loss.
Google Drive
Google Drive is just one of Google’s many ventures beyond search engines. Allowing you to upload from your devices as well as save directly from Google Docs, Google Drive is hugely beneficial for Android users, as well as desktop users. This cloud based service offers near seamless transferring of files and information between devices, with the inclusion of tablets, mobile phones and desktop/laptops.
Dropbox
Used by individuals and businesses alike, Dropbox is one of the most trusted cloud based storage services. Dropbox is a free service, offering opportunity for free storage upgrades as well as paid storage upgrades. The service provides you with instant synchronisation between devices, from your main account in your Internet browser to local folders on your devices.
Amazon
Amazon offer a cloud based storage service, but it pales in comparison to the likes of Dropbox and Google drive; where Amazon really stands out is in their cloud based provision of entertainment services. Amazon provide visual entertainment in the form of Amazon Instant Video, Amazon Music, Kindle Unlimited and Audible; for this reason, Amazon is the undisputed King of cloud based entertainment and streaming.
Netflix
Perhaps the most popular TV and film streaming service in the world at the moment, Netflix nigh single-handedly changed the way we consume entertainment, changing the priority from “ownership” to “subscription”. Whilst the service is provided through a paid subscription, the choices are huge, and ownership is well worth having.
Spotify/Apple Music
We’ve put Spotify and Apple Music together because they offer very similar cloud based subscription services, allowing you to stream music to your devices. Spotify, at present, offers a free version of their service, whereas Apple Music do not, but they are essentially the same thing – allowing users to stream music from the cloud onto their devices for entertainment purposes.
Offcloud, your cloud-based download manager
Blurring the lines between storage and entertainment is Offcloud. Offcloud allows you to download instantly, fetch data a store your files in the cloud with no fuss. For these reasons, it’s clear our service blurs the line between cloud based entertainment, and cloud based storage! As well as being able to store your files and items, you can also store media and entertainment in the 10GB integrated storage offered after you create an account with Offcloud; although you can’t stream, you can access the media whenever you want.
