Movie Reviews: Where to Find Them

Movies. Most of us love them, whether we're watching them in the cinema or in the comfort of our own home, but it's not always the simplest task to figure out what we fancy watching next. Of course, sometimes you've got suggestions lined up, one after another, but other times you need to check out some reviews and see what you feel like. If the latter sounds familiar to you and you're looking for somewhere brand new to find your movie reviews to decide what to watch next, then you're in the right place.

Of course, sometimes you’ve got suggestions lined up, one after another, but other times you need to check out some reviews and see what you feel like. If the latter sounds familiar to you and you’re looking for somewhere brand new to find your movie reviews to decide what to watch next, then you’re in the right place.

Where to find reliable movie reviews

IMDB

Perhaps the most trusted and comprehensive of all movie review websites is IMDB; they have everything. From every TV show and film you can think of, to details of who acted, directed, produced, and so on. One great thing about IMDB is they often have trivia and “did you know?” sections in relation to the movies they have reviews of, which is great if you’re a big fan of a particular film or TV show, or if you just like knowing a little bit extra.

IMDB also house a wealth of trailers, Top X lists, and even a news and community section for getting everyone involved and chatting about their favourite things.

Rotten Tomatoes

Bringing a somewhat comedic edge to the movie reviewing process is Rotten Tomatoes; who rate the movies they review in terms of freshness of tomatoes – hence “Rotten Tomatoes.”

The website is almost as in depth as IMDB; housing the reviews, trailers, videos, their “fresh picks” and much more. Rotten Tomatoes also allow you to contribute when you sign up,allowing you to give your opinion on the movies that you’ve seen and discuss the opinions of others with them. It definitely has a community vibe that some of these websites are missing, and is a definite go-to destination for the movie lover.

MetaCritic

Metacritic take a much more “professional” view towards reviewing, and they review much more than just movies. Their review roster includes movies, TV shows, games, music and features so it’s a go-to destination for all things entertainment.

Metacritic are widely respected in the industry for their reviews, and their expert approach shows in the layout of their website. Like the previous two websites we’ve mentioned, they include a section for trailers to be watched by website users, and even allow you to vote on polls. However, there is much less focus on community on this website than on Rotten Tomatoes, but if you’re just looking for a quick review of pretty much any kind of media, this is well worth looking into.

Cinemablend

Similarly to Metacritic, and despite their slightly misleading name, Cinemablend offer reviews of many different kinds of entertainment media; from movies and films to brilliant games and plenty more besides. They have a section for trailers, for upcoming features and even a section for “heroes” at the moment, which shows you the best of the best if you’re looking for a classic to sink your teeth into.
