Why everyone should start a blog
Why should you start a blog?
If you’re looking for a creative outlet for your writing skills, photography or even graphic design, then starting your very own blog can be the perfect way for you to do that. Blogging really is a multi discipline hobby, and even if you’re not the best at any one of those, you can soon hone your skills and get much much better, just by posting a few times a week! In addition to these new skills, there are plenty of other benefits to starting your own blog.
The Benefits of Blogging
There are a huge range of benefits to having your very own blog, and here are a few:
- You can learn brand new skills (including your writing skills, photography, graphic design, web design, HTML, other codes, and so on) and expand on those you already have, just by starting a blog.
- It gives you something to do that also works as a creative outlet
- You can create worthwhile, enjoyable content for other people to benefit from
- It looks great on your CV! Running a blog or website shows discipline, a willing to commit and a wide range of transferable skills that many employers will be looking for in this digital age.
- You might even find yourself being offered a job, just on the basis of your blog! You can even turn your blog into a job, if you’re willing to put the work in and are talented enough to receive the right opportunities.
Where to Start
Many new bloggers get started with WordPress or Blogger, and they’re fantastic starting points. There’s also Squarespace, which is a paid service but which offers great customisation and fantastic usability. Of course you could bypass the traditional starting points and just get stuck in with setting up your very own website with a blog section on it, which is a good idea if you’re planning to use your blog as a side project to your business. It doesn’t matter too much where you start out, especially if you’re just giving it a go to see if you like it or not – just get stuck in and get typing!
