Laptop Bag or Backpack?

Ah, that age old question - laptop bag or backpack? Okay, so maybe it's not the question that's on everyone's lips, but it's one that we're asking today! As technology becomes more and more portable (not to mention more and more affordable), exactly how we're going to transport that technology from place to place becomes more significant. Is the simple laptop bag enough, or do we now need something a little more specific to bring our technology with us wherever we go?

Ah, that age old question – laptop bag or backpack? Okay, so maybe it’s not the question that’s on everyone’s lips, but it’s one that we’re asking today! As technology becomes more and more portable (not to mention more and more affordable), exactly how we’re going to transport that technology from place to place becomes more significant. Is the simple laptop bag enough, or do we now need something a little more specific to bring our technology with us wherever we go?

Laptop Bag or Backpack

Style is an issue
While some laptop bags can look okay, for the most part, they’re quite boring, block coloured and not all that great to look at. They’re functional, sure, but if you’re one of the more style conscious and you look for a little more than just “functional” from your accessories, then maybe a laptop bag isn’t for you.

If this is the case, maybe you’ll want to consider a backpack! Many retailers offer backpacks in varying styles, colours, even shapes, all suitably sized to house your laptop and keep it safe. Indeed, many even have specific compartments designed precisely for storing your laptop.

Think about size
Chances are, if you’re taking your laptop out and about with you, you’re not the proud owner of a huge device that weighs almost more than you do. Many of us are investing in smaller devices due to the portability factor, and that’s great, but many laptop bags are still only being made in the larger sizes and while you can find smaller ones, they’ll almost certainly be more bulky than you’d like.

An alternative is to purchase a small sleeve for your device to keep it protected from scratches and dropping and just pop it into a backpack to take out with you. You’ll be able to fit more than just your laptop in and still have room to spare.

Extras and Accessories
We do seem to be leaning more towards backpacks at this point, but when it comes to storing extras and accessories for your device (chargers, cameras, extra memory and so on), the laptop bag wins! The majority of them have a decent number of storage compartments that allows you to keep everything safe, secure and organised, as opposed to just popping it into a backpack and not seeing it again until your receipt collection forces you to empty the bag.

Sometimes, organisation just wins out over having more space, doesn’t it?
