Battery Saving Tips
Battery Low! The curse of those who use their devices a lot, forgot to charge or don't carry a spare travel charger around with them. We've all been there, we go to pull out our phone to make an important call, send an email or chat to our friends only to see the battery flashing low and the device about to die.
The curse of those who use their devices a lot, forgot to charge or don’t carry a spare travel charger around with them. We’ve all been there, we go to pull out our phone to make an important call, send an email or chat to our friends only to see the battery flashing low and the device about to die.
Although batteries do die often, there are some things you can do to extend the life of your battery and ensure you’re never without communication in a pinch!
Battery Saving Tips
Turn down your screen brightness
Many of us have our phones set to automatically adjust the brightness depending on our lighting conditions, and while that’s fine when batteries are full, when the percentage drops it’s time to adjust your screen settings yourself. Turning down your brightness will conserve battery power and prevent your device dying as quickly.
Close background apps
Hands up if you’re guilty of leaving your apps running in the background of your phone – we know we are! Unfortunately, these apps that aren’t even getting used quickly drain your battery, leaving you with very little power for the things you actually want to use. Closing up your background apps will help leave your battery with a little extra juice.
Turn off background app refresh
Certain apps refresh in the background even if they’re not being used; things such as your emails, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter keep refreshing to ensure you’re up to date for when you do open the app to have a look. However this drains both your battery and your data allowance, so you’re better off switching it off and opting for a manual refresh when you’re ready to have a look at what you’ve missed.
Look into battery saving options in your phone
Most devices have some sort of power saving mode, many of these activate automatically when your battery gets to a certain percentage, but some don’t. Add to this the customisation options present in these things, and you’ve got yourself a good reason to go hunting and see what’s what. Optimising your settings to suit you best can help keep your phone alive while you need it and prevent you being stuck without a means of contact when you need it.
