5 Reasons to Get Offline
We all know that sitting in front of a screen, connected to the world wide web for X amount of hours each day isn't necessarily the best for us, but we do it anyway! Whether we're online for work, for hobbies or even just to catch up on our favourite TV shows in the evening, there's always something to stay connected for.
We all know that sitting in front of a screen, connected to the world wide web for X amount of hours each day isn’t necessarily the best for us, but we do it anyway! Whether we’re online for work, for hobbies or even just to catch up on our favourite TV shows in the evening, there’s always something to stay connected for.
Despite that, and despite the fact that we ourselves are online much of the time, we’re here to give you five great reasons to get yourself offline this week.
5 Reasons to Get Offline
1. You’ll sleep better
You’ve probably heard about your friends sleeping problems, you’ve probably even had them yourself, lately – but did you know it’s probably your device usage causing this? The light levels given emitted by these devices and the mental stimulation provided inhibit your body’s ability to get to sleep. Not only will this impact the amount of sleep that you’re getting, when you eventually get to sleep you’ll have a lower quality of sleep than you would normally.
Get yourself offline, put down your electronics and read or have a chat before bed. You’ll find you can fall asleep easier, and you’ll have a better night of rest.
2. You’ll get more done
See that task you’ve been putting off for weeks? Switch off for a couple of hours and you’ll have it done in no time at all! It’s easy to find more things to do when you’re online, whether that’s reading a few more pages of information, writing a little more or doing some more research, it’s easy to just spend the day online without getting anything done in the physical world. Get offline for a bit and you’ll find you’ve got plenty of time to get those little tasks sorted!
3. Get outside!
The outside world is beautiful, and we’re missing it because we don’t get out enough! Take some time to get outside once in a while and get offline to experience and enjoy everything that nature has to offer us. Take a walk with friends and family and soak up the sun.
4. You’ll probably feel more at ease after a time
Being online is constant stimulation, constant information going into our minds and buzzing around. Taking a step away from this, even if only for a few hours, is a good way to help your mind relax and feel more at ease. Doing this regularly, and for longer periods at a time, can help avoid the stress that constant information consumption can cause.
5. You’ll appreciate being online that little bit more!
Taking some time away from the Internet is a great idea, as you’ll have more of an appreciation for it when you get back on. The instant access to so much information is a fantastic thing, and something not to be taken for granted when you can use it. Step away, and enjoy your time online a bit more.
